U.N. Polish Soldier decided to wear the hijab during the Holy Month of Ramadan!!

Polish Catholic soldier Sylvia Monika Wyszomirska, serving with United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon, is wearing a headscarf in order to make an effort to integrate into south Lebanon's conservative society during the holy month of Ramadan!!
It is a surprise and funny decision but at the same time it is out of the ordinary!!

Hope she doesn't go to Jumiezeh, Ashrafieh and Junieh or esle she will need to change all her wordrobe and wear more revealing clothes! haha
Honestly, such attitude is not new to Europeans, as they are more open to different cultures and societies unlike Americans in Iraq and Aghanistan.

Good job on the new blog

Ali
I agree with you that the Europeans are open but not all of them. I think that Eastern Europeans are more open than western Europeans.
Thanks for coming and leaving your nice comment.

Ali, have you spent any time in America? We're the only nation who haven't fought a religious/ethnic war in our history. Anyway, this polish soldier is not wearing hijab, she just put a scarf on. Scarf is common for eastern european women in villages, especially older ones. Where I grew up (Romania) every woman over 50 would wear a scarf when she went out. It's just how people dressed.

anonymous, America never made wars because of relegion or ethnics, but it did to control the Canal of Panama, control the oil resources in Iraq, Gulf, Caspian Sea, Bosnia to control the Nato. Never underestimate wars and the real reason behind them. Most wars in this world were for either perosnal reasons or to benefit. Dont get me started with Hallibtrun and Dick Chenney's comopanies!

Oh, I forgot, the Polish soldier wore the hijab, scarf in respect to the Holy month of Ramadan and the traditions during this month. So far she didn't convert. I have seen the elderly in Greece, Spain and Italy were scarfs, sometimes I think it's cute on old women if that was thier choice
